Cast Away Souls looks at the political structures behind the conditions at the Departure Center Sjælsmark, as well as the controversial methods that aim to push the residents of the center to “voluntarily” leave Denmark. Through a conversation between center manager for Sjælsmark Niels Johannessen and one of the residents, Stanley Edward, the film tells of an everyday life under constant pressure and about a life where human rights and international conventions are being tested.
